Default BAR CERTIFIED

I did a seach and didnt come up with anything so I will just ask here. How do you go about getting your car bar certified? I have a 91 crx si and I want to drop in a b16a or a b18c, what would I have to do to make it legal?

keep it mostly stock if your planning to swap motors and keep it legal.

I got my Hatch BAR certified, all I had to do was make an appointment with a referee. They checked my intake manifold, exhaust manifold, air intake, all smog equipment, ecu (to make sure it matched the engine), and put it on the rollers to make sure it passed emmisions. Mine is USDM, so I believe its a bit easier because if yours is JDM, then I believe you have to have the USDM intake and exhaust manifold along with the USDM ECU and smog equipment. Correct me if I'm wrong. But it really wasn't that hard. Hope this helps.

setup is the same as anything else...just go stock everything, with usdm ecu and emissions equipment...i still need to do that...of course, you're going to have to convert to obd1 if you want a dohc vtec (94-95 del sol or gsr)

Here's a place to start with some basic information:

http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/St...4.htm

I had a BAR approved 94 del sol vtec swap in my 88 crx with the corresponding p30 ecu. Wasn't too hard, had to go back once. You get your second visit gratis. Try to get a usdm motor and definitely a usdm ecu and good cat.

You can also try to register your car in a change of ownership area if you don't plan on selling the hybrid car, here's a link to the map http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/ft...3.pdf
