Weird ping-pong sound from front right wheel.....
While driving today i noticed a high pitched sound echoing off walls from the right side of my R. Everytime i slightly got on the gas there would be quickly bouncing ping-pong sound which lasts for not even half a second. it would do it again for a half second when i got off the gas.
i also noticed it makes the same sound when turning right; NOT when turing left.
i checked it out with my brother, and it's definetely coming from the passenger-side front wheel.
could this be a wheel-hub bearing?
if so, how long could i safely drive on it until it needs to be replaced?
thanks!

Jiggle 3 and 9 for tierods 6 and 12 for wheel bearings right? Think thats what I've always been told.
You said its popping when you turn. Isn't that a CV joint?

jond,
yes it does sound like what is described in those posts...
like keys rattling, or a screwdriver hitting a piece of metal.
anyways, did you figure OUT what it is?
is it the drive shaft like it says in the posts? THANKS!!

The good news is, you're not alone. I know of 3-4 other people on H-T with the same problem.
The bad news is, I haven't heard of anyone figuring it out.
After my acura dealer looked at it for 3 hours, they determined its 'a normal sound'. They told my all hondas make the sound. I asked why it didn't do it for the first 50,000 miles, and why only on wheel does it, and they just blew me off. Basically they couldn't figure it out, and gave up. If you figure it out what it is, let me know. I know its not the pads. It still did it when I put on my racing pads.

*Stongbad voice* I HATE THE CLICKY!!!
Seriously, my car has been doing it for about a year and a half. I keep sort of hopeing for something to break so I can find out what it is. I cannot reproduce the sound on jackstands, my wheels have no shimmy or shake at all. My mechanic is stumped. It only does it under load. VERY ANNOYING!

i went out to the car and jacked up the wheel with the sound and i was able to reproduce the sound.
when jerking the wheel back and forth about 5 degress there is a little clicking sound which is normal and reproducible on the other side....
however, if i listen carefully i also get a higher pitched clicking sound resembling the "ping-pong" i've been hearing.
i have a feeling it is the bearing on the drive-shaft as mentioned in the links in jond's post.
i'll be going to the dealer sometime this week, and i'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Did you recently get new tires mounted?
I remember once I'd had tires mounted and a couple days later I'd hear a ping pong sound at low speeds. Turned out the tire place hadn't tightened my valvestems all the way and something had come loose and was bouncing around in the wheel.
Just a possibility.
