Default tranny problem: shift rod floats around in gear

The car is a 95 Integra RS and in any gear the shift rod moves left and right like there is no linkage.

thanks in advance for the help.

so it doesnt shift at all?
check to make sure the roll pin is still there where the shift rod hooks up to the tranny... its the one that should have a boot around it.

Check the shift linkage. Directly behind the shift lever there's a bushing that the extension rod rides in. If it's become torn or otherwise damaged the extension rod will be allowed to move easily side to side w/o rotating the shift rod at the tranny.

So what's the problem? Or is it too embarrasing?

shifter bushing on bottom of shifter.

The ONLY reason I went to a short shifter. Got a nice Edelbrock unit, has bearings instead of rubber O rings.

next time inform us that you @$&@$! with it and then the problem started happening... the way you make it sound is that it just started all of the sudden by itself.
