Homemadeturbo.com and turbod16.com should get you started.

the homemadeturbo guys are good guys and now have learned how to do ****...but their projects all have something in common...the cars blow up....

i would suggest rather than a junk yard kit....maybe trying to buy used pieces...this way you are saving money...but you still have a quality kit.

homemadeturbo.com is a great site and im a member and i go there with certain questions over this site...but there is a difference between being cheap and stupid.

This statement is pretty much BS - just because someone makes something him/herself, doesn't mean it's **** or that it's going to blow up. It all comes down to knowledge and experience. Just because you dump $3k into something doesn't mean it's that much better. My friend's setup is entirely "homemade" and we did it for cheap (around $1k - and that includes the engine swap). And you know what? It's reliable as hell - and pretty quick given the parts we used and amount of boost. We also knew what we were doing though.

I agree too...there are many "junkyard" projects over on Homemade turbo that have made very good power and not blown. if you do it right and have knowledge about the used items you are buying than you'll be fine

"bigwig" My project is all homemade and I would never buy a turbo kit because they are all overpriced and come with crap for fuel management. If my car blows up it will be on purpose because I want to see how much my little Z6 can handle. I plan on blowing it up anyways just so I will have a good excuse to swap a b-series motor in. I will also be running hondata for fuel management, but I guess that's stupid?

I'm pretty much going the same route, not buying a kit, but piecing it together.. MUCH less expensive that way, and higher quality parts.

homemade and piece together are 2 different things...and if you look on their projects on their site...i would say atleast 75% of the **** blew up. I cant speak for what you did...im just saying i would rather not buy an old IC out of some car...put it in my car...boost 12 psi...it not cool the air enough and BAM! my engine is done.

Wrong. You really don't have a good understanding of what homemadeturbo is about. It's about saving money and doing it yourself. This can be peicing together a kit with junkyard, used, or new parts.

Wrong. If a project did blow up it had nothing to do with the homemadeturbo setup. It was because they were pushing there car too hard on purpose and knew it was going to blow, just didn't care if it blew up, or something else happened that would have happened if they had a greddy kit, drag, revhard, edelbrock, etc...

A lot of the cars @ homemadeturbo.com use very little or no engine management...and blow up. Everything else contained there is solid...just run some frickin engine management. Tune w/ chips or Hondata, hell even VAFC hack is better than the blown up engines over there are using.
