hey i have a 98 civic ex (vtec) and there was a suggestion made to me buy one of the guys that im in a club with about boosting my d16. from what some of the people on CSI stated that u guys would know a bit about that .. what im lookin for is just and opinion and how well is the reliability after boosting.

 

i'd look into the 92-95 greddy kit. Good street drivability

 

its all in what you put into it. Allot of guys boost there SOHC motors, including me a daily driven turbo d16y8 or any engine is entirley concievable and done often.

well he said something about the apex turbo kit made for my car.. are there any internal upgrades needed to be on the save side.. i origianlly had plans on a b18 ls swap for the summer before norwalk and Nopi. but school kinda started and im on a budget

 

No internal upgrade if you stay at low boost...say under 10 lbs if done correclty. I have seen SOHC run up to 16psi on stock blocks and be fine....it's all about tuning.

 

i run 12+ on my stock internal sohc vtec so far so good, makes great power and tq
