Default DC JDM 4-1 header on B16?

I'm about to help a friend do some work on his EG hatch. We're dropping a B16 in the car & he's gonna be all motor for a bit so, have any of you guys use the DC header with the larger 2.5" collector on this motor before? He's got the common bolt-ons now. CAI, cat-back & test pipe. About to get the ECU re-chipped also.

Is it an improvement over a header with a smaller collector? I have an R & I went from a USDM DC 4-1 with stock cat to a JDM DC4-1 with a fat cat. Great bit of difference. Just wondered if it would cause the B16 to loose to much low end tq.

It performed well on my application, which was an otherwise stock B16. There definitely wasn't a loss of low-end power.

what header were you using before? I had a JDM 4-1 and it sucked on the B16- not enough low/mid power. I noticed a huge difference going to a JUN header, which still retained the 2.5" collector.

It was previously the stock manifold. I never said it was exceptional (in fact, it was just on the car temporarily until it's final home came back from Florida), but it didn't lose low-end power. I can't imagine there being the huge difference that you describe between the DC and JUN (perhaps a few HP at various points on the curve), and I'd be interested in seeing some back-to-back dynos. What was your setup?

Edit: I don't mean this in an sarcastic way, but the butt-dyno is often wrong, and it's accuracy can be thrown off even more when an expensive part has just been installed in place of a cheaper one.
