engine swap questions
alright had had this under a diff name(curiosity) but realized how horrible that was. so here :
i am beginning to save for my engine swap... it will be quite a while with my job but i should be able to afford it in spring next year depending on what i want. I want to have a good turbo platform and (correct me if i'm wrong) aren't sohc the better platforms? i've got a 95 civic dx coupe. i would like some input on what would be a good engine with a decent swap price, and very turbo compatible. i am looking for something under or around 1,500 but if forced to will go up to 2,000. i am hoping this might include a new and better tranny but if i have to save seperate then so be it. input on a good tranny for wanted setup would also be appreciated. thanx

And here is some stuff I found using the search. Just type in "junkyard turbo" or "d16 turbo"

-Hope this helps. You can probably get a d16y8, the junkyard turbo, and still have money for tuning with a 2000$ budget.

ok.. so the d16y8 is a good turbo platform? what woulb be a good sturdy little tranny to go with it? i've got the dx but it has had a lot of grinding when my clutch fluid needed bleedin and i am not good at powershifting, not to mention i learned to drive a stick on this car. as this would be my first turbo setup, is there a decent kit that will come with decent parts that isn't too expensive? wanting to spend 2000 is just cause i want to be able to start this project in the early spring and that is what i project to have, if i have to i can save longer. i can wlays get motor swapped in and keep saving for the turbo kit. what kind of tuning will be needed to be done to this motor.
