cutting shifter
hey guys i was wondering if any body has cut ther shifter than rethreaded it ,? and i was also wondering how they like it or how it went? any comments or info would be great, thanx
cutting your shifter doesn't really help much. it makes you shift **** sit a little lower, but the distance between where the shifter connects to the shift linkage and the ball that the shifter pivots on is no different. thus, your throws are not really any shorter. they will be a hair shorter, but i doubt you will see any performance out of it. it just looks better is all. pretty much.
I bought a short shifter, and it greatly reduced the shifting throw but it still sat higher than I wanted so I cut it right below the thread. I didnt rethread it though because I have a momo universal **** so I stuck it on tightened the set screws.

Word.
Cutting down on the stock shifter isn't going to result in any quicker shifts or anything, it's all appearance-wise. Go with a B&M short shifter for $50
