Default black soot, coming from exhaust

hi,

there is a pretty good amount of black soot building up on the backend of my car, comes out of the exhaust. I cant really see the soot coming out when the car is on, but it builds up every week. I checked my spark plugs and they seem perfect, (brownish redish color) only thing i notice wrong is, i get bad mileage (22 to 27 mpg) also my idle is sort of ruff. any ideas as to why the soot is coming out? thnx.

Your running a tad too rich, not all of your fuel is burning. Its common, just means you have to clean often, or tune a lean out your fuel a bit.

How often are you going into vtec? I have the black burn marks on my car from going into high RPMs (white car on the rear bumper) - it is normal...

List mods, do you have a fuel psi gauge... Little to vage to answer right now.

the only thing i have is denso iridium plugs jg lightspeed 8mm wires, srp 9:1 pistons, blockguard, and crower rods, aem cai, greddy evo cat back. btw is a d16z6. although i did have a problem a while back with the engine harness, it kept telling injector 3 to stay open all the time, but i had that fixed. is it possible that the injector is getting the wrong voltage? and spraying more than it should? also could it be my o2 sensor? i never replaced my o2 sensor after it was soaked in fuel. although i thought that since the o2 was soaked in fuel, it would send less fuel. i have gone to jiffy lube and they ran some injector cleaner.

i have the same problem with my white teg, buildup on back bumper, would burning oil cause this black soot on my bumper?

im pretty sure oil can cause that too, my friends accord had lots of oil leaks and he had a really bad soot stain on his bumper above the exhaust. although mine is not that bad.

Burnt oil is a bit different, it is generally more messy. I had a Toyota MR2 with a lot of blow-by, and it literally stained the white bumper after a while.

Yeah, MSD would help a little. I run MSD 6 box and blaster 3 coil, I love the quick throttle response. Will help burn everything in the combustion chamber.

Na, a catch can will grab like a drop of oil vapor every 10+ miles, not actual fact, just a quess. That smoke you will not see... Catch can couldn't hurt, I made mine for $4 dollars.

I was thinking, would i have to replace my cat? what are the effects of to much gas going through it? at one point my exhaust was shooting out so much gas, i could fill up a jar while it just idled.
