question about bored b16's

If I were to resleeve my motor with 83mm sleeves will the tq gains be signifcant? will it make numbers similar to a GSR or even enough to justify redoing the motor or would I have to use 85mm sleeves and pistons to make similar tq numbers to that of a GSR? I heard that 83mm is the most I should bore if I plan to run high boost with a large turbo.
I would suggest going as high as 84 mm That will get you just under 1.8L.
boostfed had that and with his set up got hit 500 whp and 3?? torque(i beleive )
look it up.
bigger bore will most definately help you in the torque sector!

I know that stock bore is much stronger but I heard that over 84mm they are not as strong and leaves little room for error, where as 81-83mm can take a beating and stand up to detonation if U get any.

if you start at 84 mm it does leave little room for error. If you scar a piston wall you wont have much room left to bore over.
I think 84.5 is just about the maximum bore you want to go if you are using FI.
I would go stock or a little bigger. You will have plenty of power either way if you run enough boost on the right turbo.

In the first build with 84.5mm 9.7:1 C/R when we drove the car even before boost it felt very torquey actually, another friend had driven it and said the same thing, definately didn't feel like a stock bore B16A. I was actually really impressed with the torque and power down low and didn't feel needed to rev it up into VTEC just to pass Soccer mom's Minivan. I started at 84.5mm but since they were soooo loose on the tolerances and when the sleeves sunk we went 85mm which I feel is the very max for a boosted motor, I believe and don't quote me on it but Sav Leone was running 85mm B16A. Sav? Or Geoff? The 85mm bore felt very good too until ethose sleeves sunk on the dyno too. I now have 84mm only because this Darton block was already done and was bored and honed for the 84mm JE pistons in it. I am actually about to go drive to the race shop now I will report how the 84mm felt.
83mm I dunno should def be noticeable in my opinion. And my #s were 500whp and 333ft-lb torque not too shabby for a B16A
