550+ has been made on stock sleeves. Stock bore, or close to it is fine too..
b18c1cya made 605whp on a small bore gsr motor. 81.5mm....the difference between that and an 81mm bore motor is BARELY noticable. (his was sleeved thou)

There have been many 500hp stock sleeve cars. I would have your block bored to at least .5mm over, so you know you have a true bore.

as already stated.. you will be fine on stock sleeves.. just overbore it a little so its got a clean smooth wall. as for the block guard, I've only heard bad things about them, but i cant elaborate on it. im sure somebody will chime in. Good Luck.

Here is a link to a 500+whp dyno graph for a car with stock sleeves.

These guys are right. It seems like our stock honda sleeves are being pushed really hard and proving to be able to take the beating. Just bore it out to 81.5 mm to get a fresh smooth cylinder wall, and get a good tune.

That is also a big part. You could run 250 have a bad tune and crack a sleeve. Also I have heard many problems with block guard. I run 378whp@17psi daily and 425@24(110) on stock sleeves and no block guard, haven't had any problems.

stock sleeves are definatly capable of holding 500whp. But like everyone else stated definatly up the bore a bit. As for the block guard i have never had a problem with my STR block guard. I installed it BEFORE boring and line honing.

it will essentially make the cylinder walls "thinner" but an 81.5mm Bore is only .5mm larger than stock. and its really not much of a material loss all things considered. You do the bore ensure straight and true cylinder walls.

.... also the size of the turbo. I definitely wouldn't suggest running over 400whp on a t3/t4 with a 57 trim wheel on the compressor housing.
