Default new car (no pics) need help, may have gotten ripped off.

so i got my new car today, its a 92-95 hatch(not sure) VX, with a b16a swap t28 turbo, and many other things. ok so here the problems begin. after i bought it i am on my way home and when i floor it it doesn't feel that "o my god" to tell you the truth it doesn't feel much faster than my old car. heres the questions

1) i know that the turbo isn't kicking in at all really, the boost gague says 0 when off, about -20 when running and 0psi at full throttle, maybe 1psi. he says hes gonna send me a boost controller and that should fix it. is there a way i can check if the turbo is spooling at all?

2)i can't hear vtec at all and i wonder if its kicking in at all. when does vtec usually kick in on a b16?

3) he says that there is a chipped gsr ecu in it with a rev limit of around 9500rpm yet when i get to about 25-30 in 1st and 55mph in second it cuts the fuel, it has msd 6a ignition could that be cutting it?

Alot of things could be going wrong. Go home park it and call someone who knows alot more than you. Never buy already mod'd rides

$3k's not bad for all that... I'd just rip the whole thing apart and rebuild it myself. Besides, you might want to check out the internals of the engine anyway.

So you didn't test drive before buying a used, modded car?

Hope you learn from this!

no i test drove it and all, it feels strong. i think everything is fine now, the boost is REALLY low like 1-2psi, so i will need to fix the boost problem soon. im pretty sure the internal buterfly thing isn't moving causing there to be little to no boost(the wastegate isn't opening). other than that and the vtec it seems ok. oh and the car revlimits at 7k, what ecu could that be, i took a look at it and it says "95 integra" written on it in crayon, could this be an ls ecu with such a low rev limit, and seeming no vtec.

can i plug my d16z6 ecu into it and that would raise the rev limit and give me vtec control, is that a good idea? tnx

If it redlines at 25-30 in first, and 55 in 2nd, it sounds like my stock d15 tranny.

thats a good deal. try putting in another ecu to see if that fixes the prob. and is it a custom kit? tuned? check for leaks to see why you're boosting so low. and check to see if the wastegate is stuck.

my guess is theres a whole **** load of problems with it. if hes sellin it for dirt cheap... b16 + turbo alone is $$$$.

wow, what a can of worms you just opened up...well, here's my 2, or make that 3 cents ...

1) no boost at full throttle? check your piping/hoses. one of them might have popped off or is leaking. check that before you put in the boost controller, no point in putting in a boost controller when you're not even boosting

2)should be audible, kicks in depending on where it's set in your ecu or vtec controller...see #3

3)try going back to basics...remove the MSD ignition, and try swapping computers with someone...

...also, are you running a "missing link" of some sort? fuel regulator/pump? like I initially said, can of worms...get more info from the guy who sold it to you...good luck

a friend of mine had a similar problem, he installed the turbo and allowed the car to warm up. went for a drive and 0-1psi boost. we took of the air filter and the turbines were not spinning at all, the bearings in the turbo were shot all to hell.

but check all the piping and make sure there is no leaking. intercooler endtanks for leaks. check oil level.

any check engine light?

but yeah, i agree with the other guys, dont buy a moded car especially if it sounds too good to be true.

ya, it makes about 1-2.5 psi of boost as we played with the waste gate a little and got the controller arm to wiggle, so now i have a little boost. but i guess that the main problem is the waste gate is stuck. oh and i can also hear the BOV(greddy type s i think) can my d16z6 ecu just plug into the wiring harness and run the engine? i think i have a stock ls ecu, which is causing the no vtec and low rev limit. the msd is set at 8000 rev limit. the ecu says on it p75 where my other one says p28. thanks for the ideas, its really helping!
