Default To GSR or not to GSR - Cylinder head question?

Today I was offered to straight swap with someone. He has a 95 GSR motor and he is willing to trade me, my first gen b16a cylinder head for his GSR head. My setup will be or was a full b16a on boost. From what people are telling me, the GSR is a much better designed head for boost applications. If so, I lucked out.

Just wondering if I should or shouldn't swap with him. I need some opinions quick guys since this trade is to go down the day after tomorrow.

Just in case it makes a difference, I also have a JG intake (b16 but returning it for the GSR one).

In my opinion, the gains/loss from one to the next isn't worth the time it's going to take to do the work.
gsr has a little more midrange
b16 has a little more top end.
thats about it.

If your b16 head isn't on your car, swap heads. Like the previous post, it isn't worth the time to swap them unless the head isn't on your car yet.

I understand what your saying. Thing is I'm looking for the best all around for boost. I'm setting out to run high boost levels with a fully built bottom and top-end. I heard the GSR head can support the biggest sized valves and that the port and chamber design on the GSR head is the best for my type of application. If this is true then it would only make sense to swith right?

You will also gain (or maybe lose, bad memory) .2 cr with the gsr head. Also the flow differences will be insignifigant, they are allmost identical flow. There is a flow chart on h-t somewhere do a search.

No the motor isn't in the car right now. The car is at the body shop and the motor is still at my shop on the engine stand waiting to be taken apart and the block sent out.

Thanks guys for your input.

I'm not too worried right now about the compression aspect since I will be getting after market pistons. Although, I can't order them just yet since I have to know which head I'm using to order the right ones so my compression is where I want it.
