Default Engine Misfiring! CEL code 71,72, and 74. What do I need to fix?

My CEL light came on saying that my car is misfiring in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th cylinder. Does anyone know what this means? Do I need new spark plugs/wires? I did a search on this, but no one ever figured out what the problem was? How do you know if you have a bent valve or bad injector? Thanks!

are you boosting right now? when similar codes went off on my car, it was because the 3rd and 4th piston had chunks missing out the top and the rings were broken.

Smart Guy. I had that same problem after I rebuilt my motor. I replaced the whole distributor, wires, etc........and finally did a leakdown test. Turns out I had 3 bent valves.

I have the same problem with my car but I'm boostin and using Iridium plugs. The weird thing is that the light comes and goes. My compression is fine with 210's across all 4 cylinders. You may also want to check your crank pulley and make sure its not wobbling like mine.

I believe the CKF (crank speed fluctuation) sensor is mounted right next to the crank pulley and can trigger misfire CEL's if your pulley is doing what mine is doing. Good luck.

Ok, I'll take a look at it. Hope it is nothing major.

When you have a bent valve, does the engine make a obvious noise or you can't really tell by listening to it?
