Default Compression test results

I used a craftsmen compression tester and came up with the following. Seems ok for an engine with 38850 miles and in need of a valve adjustment.
#1 - 215
#2 - 230
#3 - 235
#4 - 230

Any reason why number one would be the lower of the cylinders or do these numbers seem alright? Also, when I checked the #2 I cranked about 5-6 times at WOT and first only came up with 197, then after checking the remainding cylinders I went back to #2, cranked 5 times again and came up with a final result of 230. Everything seem ok?

That's looks pretty normal for all the ITR's I've done a test on...right around the 230 mark.

a valve adjustment could clean up cyl 1 to even the compression with the rest

Do dealerships routinely do compression tests as a part of scheduled maintainence??

Mine were about the same, except #1 was a bit higher. I wouldn't be concerned, you do need a valve adjustment.... then do compression again.

Did you guys crank it 7 times with the throttle plate opened? You're supposed to nail it seven times and it should go up at a even and steady pace. I cranked it 4 times without the throttle opened and i hit 250's and 260's all the way up.

you crank the car until compression no longer builds up, doesn't matter how many times. However, the fewer, the better.

Mine wasn't at WOT...I forgot do that when I did mine, but then again, I don't care right now because my numbers looked good.

And yes, you crank until it stops.
