.....Just a simple junkyard turbo on an itr question.

Smaller than a t3 though - but with such instant spool it'd be great for autox.....

Thoughts?

I'd imagine you'd get out of the efficiency range really quickly at high RPMs.

Good spool time, but probably pretty annoying to drive on a high revving engine. I don't see a straight T3 as being that bad of a spooler on a high compression 1.8L engine, plus it'll give you loads more fun up top.

16G on the other hand would be pretty cool.

Internally gated and quick spool just like the 25.

Ken...what are you doing?

I fully intend to rape, pillage, burn, and blow an itr motor before all is said and done.

Or you can raise all hell and break out the Full Race manifold, 40mm Tial, and 60-1

As all have said before, and will say again:

The fastest car is still a dead duck if you don't know how to drive it.

If people in stock cars are turning faster laps and autox times than a well-modified one, I just don't understand why people still continue to insist that the car is the thing to change.

16G runs out of steam on the EVO pretty quick. Has difficulty holding 19psi.

if junkyard setup is what you want to do and want to spool quickly - small turbo may be best bet.. but.. you could get faster spool with using better parts, - such as manifold, ext. wastegate, exhaust, ball bearing turbo.

Now that you've done a whole car ....

Get a whole Drag kit.
Steve says the T3/T4 60-1 spools quite nicely in mine!
That being said, I'd bet a Drag kit on a stock ITR motor would be just nice for your purposes. Ed

With Hondata tuning and a J&S ...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ed, I like your thinking. The maxrev kit is looking better to me now though...

But how about this for Steve's recommended parts list:

t4/t3 in .57/.63 trim
inlinepro manifold
600cc-800cc injectors
greddy intercooler (the 24 i think.....)
revhard downpipe
hondata
whatever bov, wastegate, etc...

I have a t25 lying around - along with some 450dsm injectors and resistor box.

I can get a drag3 turbo for a good price.

Or I can just order the maxrev kit.....

Hrm... decisions, decisions.....

drag kit is nice, but the only thing lacking from it is the manifold. i would try to get a max-rev mani.

Thats an EVO. But with a turbo Ported and Clipped 15 degrees with a 7cfm housing should be nice and WILL hold plenty over 19!

I am goin to be selling the T3 I am using right now in a couple of weeks. Its got a clipped turbine wheel and a T4 Vtrim compressor wheel still in the T3 housing. Spools almost instantly and makes good power. Turbo is also water cooled.

Here's an old thread of a T28 on an ITR

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=414483

The owner has since changed upto a bigger turbo now.

But I'm going to pick up the drag3 hairdryer tonight.

Got one of those! It builds 15 psi by 2300 rpm, very little lag down below 3K, *no* lag in the mid range, but boost falls off after 5.8K and can only hold about 11-12 psi by 7000 rpm. But this is on a 4g63 motor (2.0L). I would probably not put a T25 on an itr as it won't come close to supplying enough airflow at the high rpms to make it even worth while revving past 7K. The T28 should be better though (~520 cfm vs ~290 for the T25.)

thank you Alex!

That post actually had some good explanations.

I'm probably going to sell the t25 to a local guy who wants to put it on his d16... so that combo might work out well for him actually - since that motor doesn't rev super high anyway...

.....why won't it be able to support over 7k rpms?

I mean, you saying it won't hold 8psi at that high of rpms?

Can't handle the cfm's? I think I understand, but could you clarify?

Sounds like it'd be good for an ls or b20 setup - since they aren't high revvers, right?

such a small turbo would get out of its efficiency range at higher rpms. So it'd run out of breath up top so to speak

if i cared to boost my hype r, i'd want to do a smaller turbo too for better spool.

There is a lot to be said about a big turbo though...

I make 328 whp w/ just 11 psi out of a t3/60-1, and it still spools relatively quick. If you keep the revs up spool would definately not be an issue... just traction is a bit of a pesky bitch.

However lag does not bother me and not much longer hopefully and my precision sc61 gets ordered.
