C's is the way I would go but it's 300 bucks. Neuspeed is cheaper but less quality. I also heard, I dont know if it's true, that a Del Sol shifter has the same OEM feel but much shorter throws.

Yup. What he said. If anything, swap out the bushings.

if you want the throw shorter without changing much else, do what I did. This was on a gs/gsr shift lever. Cut the lever between the ball and the lower connection point to the linkage. Extend a necessary amount(I think it was about a 1/4 inch). Then weld back together. Or if you want, I have a polished dc short shifter I can sell you (new, in package-for gsr).

I changed to a DC sports (I know) and I actually like it...it's a little tighter, but much shorter...coupled w/ my Mugen shift **** and it is DAMN short...

got it for like $75...C's is good, but for 4 times the price...we're not talking about a header or something, it's a shifter for christ's sake. couldn't bring myself to spend that much...

Ghetto engineering.

Properly engineered short shifters should not drop the shifter height at all. Hell, if it were my choice, I'd raise them to a more ergonomic level so your hand doesn't have to go as far from the wheel. Look at touring cars in Europe.

There are a few ways to shorten the throw, and decreasing the length of the top end is not the right way to do it.

when I said shorter, I was referring to shorter throw....it was only like 3/4" difference in height...

If you are referring to my message above, read it again. I never suggested changing the "shifter height". I recommended changing the distance between the "ball" (or pivot) and the connection to the linkage(below the pivot). This WILL shorten the throw w/o changing anything else. Read thoroughly before accusing someone of "ghetto engineering".

C's is probably one of the best but if you don't want to spend the money go with the Spoon or Mugen Bushings. I haven't changed mine yet but then again I only have 5,000+ miles on my car also.

Warren is right.

The C's has by far the shortest (and smoothest) stroke and is the same height as stock.

C's + Spoon bushing = shifting nirvana

BTW Warren, C's has a Driving Position Shifter that is similar to those touring/rally car shifters.

I heard the same about the OE Del Sol shifter... I like the OE feel, just needs to be a little shorter in the throws...

Well I drove a RSX Type S and the 6 speed felt and sounded alot like the Scooby WRX but slightly less notchy. I don't know if the STi 6 speed gear box is like the 5 speed from what I heard it's not.

I'm not sure what the 6-spd box feels like but i can tell you that my 5 speed box is nothing like a scoobys

While i'm at it, does anyone know if it's possible (and worth it) to install a 6 speed box to a type-r. I could do with a longer top (cruising) gear... Come to think of it... a 6 speed box with the same ratios as my current box with a cruising 6th would be ideal... hehe.

I've been thinkin about the samething every since I thought of ways to make the R abit better. 80-85mph can be quite loud if you drive constant on the interstate here. So I 6th gear to drop into and drop the rpm's to around 3,500-4,000 rpm's at around 80-90mph would be ideal especailly if you have kinda loud car. Doesn't feel too good to hear the droan when you got a migrain but perfect any other time.

Yeah tell me about it.... heh. I'll probably get slated for saying this but there are times when it's just too damn loud. Like driving back in the morning from a party with a hangover for example.

I know all you purists out there will come back telling me that cruising isn't what the integra is about (and i know) but i can only afford to run one car in the uk...

I love my Neuspeed S/S. It comes with poly bushings too. Everytime someone says they do not need a short shifter and complain that I wasted my money, they try mine and love the throw. It doesn't look much low at all. The shift from 4th to 5th was greatly improved though. I've sold 4 units since.

Thanks,
