New project car+Honda Newbie=Lots of questions
I am picking up my new EG Hatch this Monday. This is a project car I thought about several months ago, but never started on due to financial reasons. But due to a recent turn of events ive been forced to garage by current project (2002 Cavalier that ran 14.0 last season...very fast for a J-Body).
The Eg should be cheap on Insurance, and parts are everywhere, which makes it ideal for my situation. I plan on an H22A swap, using the Nitrous setup I currently have installed on the Cavalier. i know theres front end weight issues with this motor, as well as sheer size constraints.
Anyways on with the questions:
Where is the best place to order/find Good/excellent condition Engines for swaps? i know JDMPower.net sells almost everything needed, but I have no idea if those prices are competitive.
What kind of motor mount kits are the best bet for build quality and strength? I drive fairly hard. I also live in Florida, is there any companies producing mounts that allow A/C hardware to fit?
What kind of Suspension am I looking at so i dont kill myself the first time im forced to swerve to avoid a collision? I know the heavier H22 will cause some problems here, and I want it to be as safe as it can be.
What kind of abuse will a stock H22A hold up to if I use a wet NX kit? Is there any Honda specific problems I should be aware of, will a Vtec switchover cause problems while spraying? I know nothing when it comes to fuel trim dynamic as it relates to vtec. Think an H22 will survive a 100 shot with proper fuel/spark management?
And any other main problems that will be specific to this swap that anyone feels I should be aware of. Feel free to post whatever you know. I am eager to hear from some people that have experience with swaps like this.
Assume I know nothing...but be easy on me im a newbi here.

For buying the engine, I have read many good things about import auto salvage, sohfast.com, and hmotorsonline. I have no personal experience with any of these, so do a search here on H-T, "where to buy motors" or something like that, you should get a bunch of results and work from there.
Hasport comes to mind for mounts, there is another company I can not recall right now. (As for the A/C, Im not sure about that)
You should probably look into bigger sway bars front and rear, to decrease body roll. Stiffer springs and heavy duty shocks, etc. As for how much of a problem the added weight is, I could not really say.
Hope this helps a little, I am fairly new as well so it may seem I am giving half-answers, but I would rather not advise much based on only information that I have read or heard. Remember, try a search if you don't get many responses to this thread, there is tons of good info in the archives and much of the info you are looking for, if not all can be found there. Good luck with the project, welcome to Honda-tech.

Can I ask you what your decision on the H22a is?
Torque?
Horse Power?
Best bang for the buck?
I think they're good reasons, but it was the weight issue and swap difficulty swayed me away from an H22a. I definitely don't know what the weight differences between a H or B series, but definitely ask one of the guys on the board who have done the swap to help you out.......they ought to be out there somewhere....

Im coming from a domestic, which is fairly torquey (~150ft/lbs stock, although I was making signifiacantly more). So I want something that has some low end punch on it. i know the GSR Teggy motor is a torque motor too, but the demand for those makes them just as expensive as the H22.
Another factor is my favoritism towards the bottle. I only have some experience to back this up but if the B18 makes 180hp and the h22 makes 200hp...the h22 will take more nitrous before moderate modding becomes necessary.
Also ive never seen (in person) an H22 in an EG, and thats cool too (rarity).
Keep in mind this is only the first step into the project car. This is more than likely a temprary solution, until i get my feet wet here. The H22 makes plenty of power, which i accustomed to. They arent any more expensive than the B series motors(engine wise, usually cheaper). Theres less demand for them, so they are easier to come by.
Once I get some experience under my belt with the Honda, ill probably build a motor from scratch, and boost the hell out of it. but for now I just want to get into the car and see how everything works, without wasting money on a motor I know isnt staying in the car.

with the h22 you will need funky axles (search on this one, has been covered alot) the motor mounts, modified shifter linkage (well not the linkage, but the hole where the shifter comes through) and beefed up suspension in the front at the least. It is a project, and not as easy as dropping in a b series. there are suprisingly quite a few of those swaps in my town, so good luck! You may also want to go look over in the hybrids forum for information.
ive found the right info I need 90-93 Integra axles and 90-93 Accord Intermediate shaft to make the tires go.
At hmotorsonline.com They sell the H22(swap kit) w/ hassport mounts, the axles, an LSD Tranny...and all the other goodies for $3100.
I also found a place dvertising a mount kit, and in thier instructions it said I would need to modify the sub-frame a bit to make the motor fit. Then I read here that that wasnt needed anymore. Is the Hassport mount kit the right kit to buy to prevent modifying an integral piece of the car?
I plan on getting a set of coilovers for the suspension. I have eibach sportlines and Koni struts on the Cavy, and I dont feel that a set of springs and struts would be substantial enough to support that size motor in a car intended for a 1.6. Im looking at the tein stuff now, but have no idea on what kind of spring rates would be a good idea for the swap.
im trying not to send out any e-mails with mass questions to these companies until i actually have the car in the garage.
keep the ideas coming.

Well...its in the driveway
I jut got done driving it around for a while...im hooked. I wish i would have test driven a Honda sooner. I think i like it here, plan on staying for awhile.
not a bad starting place? The little motor pulls better than I had anticipated. Im very happy.
