Good high milage oil recommendations?
Hey, i got a 90 accord LX, 5spd, its got a **** load of miles on it
like 215k miles? watever 332k km is do the math lol i dunno what the mile/km ratio is...
but anyway any1 got any suggestions on what is a good type motor oil to use? i use quaker 5w30 now mixed with synthetic oil....any suggestions on what would be good for such high milage to increase engine life ( ifstill possible )?

Well it all depends on what shape your motor is in. High mileage doesn't always mean it's in bad shape, and low mileage doesn't always mean it's in good shape. 332k KM = ~199,200 miles, BTW. If your motor is in good shape, and doesn't leak or burn any oil, I would suggest a good synthetic like Mobil 1..... good stuff
. I've been using Mobil 1 for several years in my currently 317,500 mile motor which has never been rebuilt, and it works great with no problems. Still doesn't burn or leak a damn drop. However if your motor isn't in the greatest shape, then a little thicker conventional might be the way to go. I've heard some ppl say to stay away from Quaker State and Pennzoil (??), but personally I've never had any prob with any name brand conventional oil. Some brands have a 'high mileage' formula which is a lil bit thicker, which may be worth a try.

For me, being in hot *** south Florida, I use 10w-30 year round. For you though being in Canada, I'd use 5w-30 (thinner) in winter, and 10w-30 (thicker) in summer. If it doesn't get real super hot you could probably use 5w-30 year round.
Just so you're not too shocked, Mobil 1 is about $4.50/qt US, so it's kinda expensive. Good oil though

If you have any leaks or burn some oil I suggest one of the newer oils that are formulated for high milage engines. I have been using Valvoline high milage oil in my Dodge truck that was leaking and using oil. It has helped quite a bit. Valvoline was the first with high milage oil and now I see many other major brands have come out with high milage oil.
i c, the oil didn't help with the leak or anything did it? lol
i think my cars leeking oil somewhere not sure where though...and it only burns oil when i rev really high (5000-6000rpm) other than that its fine lol

Interesting. Did you find that it burned less than regular Valvoline? Did the leaks go away?

I said my Dodge truck was "leaking and using oil" and "helped quite a bit". I mean the leaking and using oil were reduced - not completely eliminated.
For more information read the package lable and contact the manufacturer.

ive been using valvoline max life since i had 175 k on my 4th gen..i now have 218k on it and compression is 170 psi in all 4 cylinders. good as new. never rebuilt either. i swear by valvoline max life.
with that many miles I would ot switch anduse an synthetic, you may have seal problems, stick with a good mineral base like Pennzoil, Valvoline, etc. and it willb e fine, if its wram use 10-30, cold use 5W30.
