Cant get back rotord off!!!!!!!
hey guys,
95 honda accord
im doing new rotors, pads and braided brake lines. I got the front done, but have ran into a problem with the rear. the rear rotors are held on by two phillips head screws. i used and impact driver to try and break them loose, but no luck!
i have stripped one out of the four, what should i do. i tried penitration oil and no luck! i was told to drill, but the only problem is that the type of screw would be impossible to match, the screw set flush with the rotor. any recomendations?
thanks
shane

dont use the screws again ... they are just to hold the rotor in place till your rim is installed many people here on honda tech dont use them at all because they always strip out ... to get it off i use a nailset and hit it counter clockwise will it unscrews itself ...
If you really need another screw, then just contact your local Honda Dealership Parts Depart. and see if they have some in stock. May cost a bit, but at least you have the correct one.

No their not, they can be used over if you don't screw them up. Where did you come up with that?

I suppose you could but they're pretty hard not to screw up when they're in there as tight as they usually are.

In the Helms. It says to replace them.

the only reason I can see to replace them
your rear brakes will last over 100K and by that time you have to beat the crap out of them to work em loose it is less that $2 so not a biggie
your front brakes provide 90% of your car's stopping power so if you want better stopping distance upgrade to V6 brakes.

get your facts straight before yapping front brakes dont do 90% of the stopping from what i remember it is 2/3rds ( not totally sure but i know it isnt 90%)
and the screws do nothing just hold the rotor in place .... your rim also does that once they are installed so the screws are useless..... it is safe with them or without them .....

Just drill them out. You can do without them.
