Hesitation
Sup guys, I'm usually in the CRX forum but I've got a question on my moms car. Its a 93 Accord LX with about 170k. It has an odd hesitation when maintaining any speed but seems fine during acceleration and deceleration. Or at least I dont notice it as much. It seems like a cylinder is misfiring but its just odd that its only when maintaining speed. And its anywhere from 10-85mph so its not any given range. I told her I'll do her plugs/wires/cap/rotor (its been about 35k since her last tune-up) and go from there but can't get the parts till tomorrow so I figured I'd get some opinions. Theres no cel's, oil is recently changed and proper level, any suggestions are appreciated.

Disconect the vacuum line to the EGR valve, and see if the hesitation is gone.

From what I've seen, a vacuum test can be done as well. It doesn't work really though, since all ports have to be clogged for it to fail. Chiovnidca's test is best.
I'm cleaning the ports on my 92 right now. Did you know on the 94 you can get to the EGR ports by simply unbolting 4 bolts on a cover?
and on the 93-92s you have to drill metal plugs or take off the entire manifold
I'm doing the latter, the hate runs strong in me.

I think there are five bolts on the cover.

I've never heard of one cleaning the valve itself, just the ports in the intake manifold. They're the first things that clog in the whole EGR system anyways.
If you have a 94, you have a small cover on the intake manifold. You can unbolt that, then use carb cleaner, picks and anything else really to remove the carbon deposits.

94s are at the end, I didn't do the procedure for the 92 they list, since I couldn't find a slide hammer. I had to take the manifold off and clean it.

will clogged injectors or a clogged fuel filter cause hesitation and stuttering as well? also, have any of you tried BG44-k fuel treatment? just wondering if that stuff really works.

i think anything clogged in a automobile will cause some type
of hesitation or performance failures...so keep it in top notch
