OK I just installed my header today and now my car is quiet. However when I turn it on lots of smoke comes from where the engine is (I think thats just a fucked exhaust manifold gasket). The car when I turn it on will rev to like 4000rpms or less but as soon as I touch the pedal it will rev to limit and then stay or drop down only slightly. What the hell is wrong with it? It now only throws code 9 but I don't see how only that could mess it up this bad. I think it might be a throttle body problem. It came in pieces and I tried to put it back together but the parts just don't fit right. Most of it is intact, but I think that "wheel" the throttle cable goes around isn't for a ZC or something, it doesn't look like an A6 Si one either. What the hell, and the dash pot in no way will bolt up to it. Could a fucked up throttle body do this?

did you swap the wires on the TPS sensor like you were suppose to? that will cause it to read as WOT if you didnt

Yeah I did, I don't think its that cuz now it doesn't go all to WOT unless you touch the pedal. I was told my throttle cable pulley is from a GSR, so no wonder it doesn't look like any of the stuff in pictures does.

Wait, tell us what you did first. All I got out of the story is you installed a header, and now you're idle is fucked up.

No it was fucked up before. The Cable Pulley is from a GSR so I guess it doesn't hook to the cable right and the dash pot won't bolt up with that pulley on it. My car revs to like 4000 when you start it and if you touch the pedal at all it will rev to limiter and stay like that unless you pull the pedal up. I guess the TB is fucked up. I am going to get an Si Throttle Body at the junkyard because that should have a good TPS and all that **** intact.

Wait, the gas pedal doesn't come back up? You have to pull it up? Why don't you look at a friends cable pulley and see if it's facing the right direction? Also, if you're not going to use the dashpot, remember the plug up any open vacuum ports/hoses.

im going to assume that you installed an intake manifold also because of all the throttle cable and throttle body problems. This SAME thing happened to me when i did my mpfi conversion. when i started the car it would idle near 4000 and blow out tons of white smoke. later i notice some water dripping out of my intake manifold. i forgot to scrape some gasket from it when i installed it. check all your gaskets. sounds like you got a leak somewhere. try unhooking your throttle cable completely. if it still idles super high youve got a leak if it solves the problem then u need a new throttle cable or body.

No this is a complete ZC, never had that stuff taken apart that I know of.

I know there is no gasket on the TB, should there be one, what do I use for a ZC? Si TB gasket?

a new header may smoke or even an old header may smoke due to thing like oil being burned off of the metal.... common and expected for a little while.

as for your other problem... I dont know
