my accord bogges really bad. need help!!!!
I have a 87 accord. carborated. and when i floor it, she bogges really bad, and then it gets worse. I have to turn off the car, and wait like a couple seconds, and then start it, and it starts rough, then its fine untill i floor it again. i changed both fuel filters already, what else could be wrong? its pissing me off. I can't get up to speed on the highway. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Hmmm, no clue here but you may want to try http://3geez.com Ask them there.
I have new plugs and plug wires coming, maybe that will help, but i don't know why turning off my car for a couple seconds and then running it again would make it run better. I just bought the car, and it sat for a while, so maybe the new fuel filters got clogged again, since i sat for a long time, here might have been a lot of crap in the gas.
maybe the distubutor might be arking on something, but doesn't seen like it, casue then stopping the car and running it again wouldn't matter. I still think it has something to do with the gas. I really think the fuel pump might be going bad.

When was the carburator last overhauled? That was always a periodic maintenance thing (back when I had a carburator...)
I wonder, '87 is probably new enough to have all those solenoid valves in the carburator to adjust A/F based on the O2 sensor? Check any of them for sticking. I don't know how to get any more detailed without a overhaul procedure for your carb. Got a repair manual?

I did the old golf ti in the egr valve trick. I just took off the hose going into the egr valve, and stuck a golf ti in it, it seemed to help out a lot. it still bogged once and a while, but not as bad as it was. But it still does it once and a while, and its weird, cause if i turn off the key, and then go again, it works fine. Like it need to build up fuel pressure again. If the carb needed to be over hauled, wouldn't you think it would bog all the time? I dunno, its kinda confusing though. And now I found out the drivers side headlight is haveing some eletrical problems. I have my work cut out for me.
Could the fuel pump be bad? In my 87, when the fuel pump just started to go, the car would die down and stall out. I had to sit a minute and then it started up fine until it eventually just wouldn't start at all...
could be a broken return in the EGR valve, causing the engine to bog whenever the EGR valve opens. Yank the EGR and test it out, there are plenty of 3g's in the junkyard.
If it still bogs out, trace the vaccum lines, make sure none are disconencted and broken... happened on my 82 datsun.
If all else fails, take it in for a tune up, with the propane enrichment system installed... so they can adjust the mixture.

I really think its teh egr valve, it runs like **** now that I plugged the line back in. i had to plug it back in becasue of emmisions. but im going to trace all the million of vaccume lines, and if all elese fails, im gonna go find a new egr valve.
