Default HELP!!! 86 Accord No start

Hi everyone -

I have a very good friend in need. She has an 86 Accord with an automatic tranny. The car has *very* low miles, but as a result of sitting so much (literally owned by an old lady before she got it), it has had lots of carb issues. The local Honda dealer took lots of her money to fix it, and then threw up their hands and now refuses to even accept the car. Apparently they have no-one that knows how to work on carb'd cars.

Anywho, the current problem: The carb issues seem to be fixed fully after a fuel filter change or two, but after driving it the other night, they pulled in the driveway, turned it off, and now it will not start. It just sits there and cranks, but no run.
They are getting fuel and spark, according to her and her Dad, but the thing just isn't running.

I know the later 80s-early 90s Hondas had the problem with the Main Relay, but I don't think this car has that, and even if it did, the inside of the car wasn't hot when it started doing this no-start thing.

Anyone have any help?

pump the gas 2 or 3 times before you start it? you probley already tried that... seems kinda rediculous that a honda mechanic doesn't even know how to work on it...

Kinda rediculous? It's stupid as hell! They have guys in there that have no idea how to work on a car with a carb, so I'm guessing they're also not ASE Certified.

Of course they then suggested that she just buy a new one. If they can't fix the one you have, why the hell would you want to buy a new one from them?!?!

Engine's getting gas, but thanks for the suggestion.
