droping the tank? got some questions
back corner on the driverside, remove that bolt so you can remove excess fuel. take a Jack with a 2*4 about 1.5 feet long jack up the board so its on the tank. Remove the 2 retaining straps on the rear, theres 1 bolt per side then you can unhook them and drop them down. Lower the jack, lowering the tank. Then you can remove the hoses and lines along with the holder for the fuel pump. Theres 8 nuts (i think) then the banjo fitting on top then pump with some wiggling will come out. install is in reverse may have to wiggle more to get it in but will all work out. Make sure when going back up that you watch all you lines so nothing gets kinked or pinched....
Truthfully its not that bad. Kinda gassy (of course) I can swap one in less then an hour if tools are near by. First time it took close to 2 hours though. If you can do anything to a car you can change a fuel pump. I never could understand why people always bitch about it, anything you do is gonna give you some hassel and time get over it or pay some one else to do it. I'd prefer to keep my $$$$ for something else IMO.
What model CRX, HB, 4 door. My '88 hatch has an access plate under the rear seat. My '89 CRX SI has it under the locking compartment. I am positive its easier to work on from above.

That plate that your refering to is for the fuel level (tell you how much gas you have) not for the fuel pump you have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump.

yeah theres 2 large holes, one for the gauge which is under the seat then the other is for the pump itself and that is in the other end/side of the tank about a foot and half away....

before you do this I highly recommend getting new bolts from honda, they are prob. rusted and you might have to break them to get them off, or you will be
stuck without a gas tank till you after they come in from honda ( I wont do the fuel pump for anyone until they get em, dont want the car stuck at my house)

im going to be droping my tank as well, its all rotted out and the sending unit is bad, do i have to take the seats out and do anything in the car to drop the tank? or is all whats just stated above all thats need to be done when droping it?
YES! buy the bolts from honda, there 6.oo a piece, and get lock washers and new nuts. I ended up using a sawz-all to cut my old ones they were so rusted. You also have to unscrew that round plate under the back seat, unplug the harness to the tank. I put in a new tank 3 weeks back and haven't put the hose cover back on yet 'cause I'm still keeping an eye on everything but so far so good.
Make sure to visit http://www.theoldone.com, theres a great write up on constructing a jig to help properly position the new pump, filter.
