Any last minute tips before my spring install friday?......
Ive heard so many horror stories about spring installs even on newer tegs. Mine is a 95 so I am expecting some tough bolts. Ive heard alot of people complain about the LCA bolt and how hard it is to get out. Anyone have any last mintue tips?
make sure you use a spring compressor. Makes life a lot easier and you not gonna end up in a hospital when you take the bolt off.
Installed mine without a spring compressor (esp for coilovers
), no big deal - but then I used air tools. Do one at a time so you can compare what you're working on to the original.
Taking the pin/bolt off the rear control arms frees up a whole lot of space.
Spray your bolts down with good lube just to make things easier for yourself.
Good luck, take your time, and have fun. You can PM me if you have trouble.

howd you do it without a spring compressor? didnt the spring shoot out at you? you didnt use one to take off the original springs?

Last time we did a spring install on a '95, we ended up cutting 3 out of 4 bolts with a sawzall, using 15 or so blades in the process.
Hope it doesn't come down to that for you guys.

Not to scare you but, my LCA to Strut bolts broke and I had to put in new bushings.. It wasn't fun at all.. And I had a 94 GSR..
Just take your time. I've done it on a 98 gsr, 99 gsr, and 02 rsx. Believe it or not the rsx was the hardest. The only problem I ran into the first time I did it was the nut on the top of the spring. Make sure you get a nice allen wrench to fit in the top for taking off the nut. I recommend craftsman. We had a husky and the damn thing was just a little too small. Caused a major disaster. Just take your time and everything should go smooth. It is really an easy job, just a little time consuming..

Nope, I just had my friend push down on the spring while I used an air gun on the nut. Don't get me wrong, I usually do installations at my shop and use a standard spring compressor. It makes life much safer and easier, but with this install I did not and it worked out fine.

You probably won't be able to get the back shocks of because the bolts that hold the shock onto the control arm usually sieze-up inside of the control arm bushing.
I had to cut those bolts and replace the bushings in order to install new springs.

Because it's harder to get those left over bits stuck in the LCA bushings than it is to just buy new ones.
We've got a spare set @ TFGG b/c I accidently ordered a new set GS-R LCA's instead of ITR LCA's the first time around, and I don't think we're gonna get around to returning them either.

I installed my suspension on my 94 back in Feb. 2002. I just used some PB Blaster and a 12V electric impact wrench on the rear LCA bolts and they came out just fine. You can buy one of those wrenches for around $20 at Wal-Mart. It comes with a case and maybe some sockets (not sure) and it plugs into your cig lighter socket. It's slow (maybe one impact per second) but it got the job done for me w/o breaking any bolts.

I just picked up an impact wrench that hooks up to compressed air. Should I use it on all of the bolts or just the rear LCA bolts?
impact wrenchs arent as powerful as an impact gun. i used an impact wrench the whole time and a torque wrench to tighten everything up at the end.
