spring install help
I got the front spring installed fine. Here is my problem.
The left rear strut assembly where you have to use the allen wrench and a 14mm wrench to get that top bolt off ( so you can remove the spring), are both stripped. They were rusted over bigtime I think, WD40 wouldn't unrust them.
Anyone got an ideas for me? You can't really use those speical sockets for getting stripped nuts off because the bolt will just turn if an allen wrench is not used.

that happened to me. I think i used a small vice grip under the nut and pryed something between the vice and nut and made enough friction to keep it from turning.
also, maybe try one of those nut/bolt cracker tools.

damn that sucks.. in over 15 spring/shock installs that has never happened to me.. but if I were in the situation after having the spring compressed, I'd probably get a large/strong Vise grip and set the jaws really small/tight so it gets a really tight grip on the shock rod/spindle... and hopefully it'll hold the shock rod/spindle stationary so that you can break loose the top shock mount nut...
I've never encountered this.. so no 1st hand experience... maybe you can get a bench vise and grip the top of the shock rod REALLY tight.. while having someone else support/hold the shock while you try to undo/break loose the nut...
or you could bust out the sawz all haha
just make sure the spring is compressed fully w/ a spring compresor so when things finally gets loose.. it doesn't shoot or injure anyone....

So its possible just to buy the new bolt that goes up through the stock?

Looks like I'll try agian today. Anyone know the name of the nut? is its 14mm Flange nut with what pitch?
