Default so what's the deal with crank bearings?

so i asked a mechanic about machining my GSR block and he mentioned something about how the crank bearings are a beeytch because it's a honda motor..

what does he mean by this???:confused:

i am in the process of rebuilding my short block, so i need to find out any info about replacing bearings, seals, pumps, etc..anything helps..thanks!!

Honda crank and rod bearings are 'color' coded. If the block/engine is stock, a honda or qualified mechanic can identify the 'colors' needed to order the honda bearings. (Teg crank bearings are kinda specially designed to accomodate the stroke/bore of the engine design) So using HONDA bearings is highly recommended.

If the markings are not correct, or the mains have been bored before, the builder will need to plastigauge (measure) the bearing clearances and order the honda bearings accordingly (You/he may need to order different bearings for each journal if not stock)

I guess that's why he said that.
