what turbo betwen t3 .42 /.48 and a t3/to4e ????
I' deciding what turbo to use in my 95 ls. I dont know much about turbo sizes, so im doing some research through honda-tech. I think a .42/.48 t3 will be too small, but dont know if a t3/t04e is too big for a street set up. What turbos are in betwen?? Which one would you recomend or not recomend?
Im assuming that the .42/.48 is something like a saab 900 turbo. I would not go with that, at 10 psi it'll barely flow any good results.
I would suggest the t3t4e with a .63 turbine and either 54 or 57 trim. Makes real ggod power. You wont want the .48 turbine....too much wheel spin and not enough up top.

thats what i'm using on my b16a (.57 trim .63 ar)...i feel it's a good balance between quick spool and power....flows nice up top..
I had the smaller t3 (.48 ar.42 trim) and it spooled fast but dropped off in the top end....no top end power at all

i think u might actually be able to go with something a little smaller. the t3/04e with like a 57 trim doesn't even come into its real powerband until like 12psi. get a turbo that u can fully utilize. u don't have to worry about "up top" power, b/c u redline at 7,000rpm anyways. i think a t3/04b with like a .48a/r would do the trick very nicely. and u still have a good powerband etc.
I've got the .42/.48 Saab unit on an LS. If you're getting it cheap and just want a little more power than you have now it's great. They start going off the efficiency island of the compressor map at 10 psi @ 7000K for a B18A/B - which puts you around 200whp. You can overspin it a bit for more boost, like the Dodge boys do with their T3s, but you'll need a nice IC.
I have a lot of fun, but the small turbine makes for low spooling which SUCKS on the street contrary to ignorant popular opinion. I have zero traction in first and second without being as fast as more powerful peakier setups that can lay the power to the ground.
If you have the few measly extra dollars for what cheapturbo.com wants for a T3/4e, grab one.

I have a ITR with a T3 with .48/.48 50 trim and mine makes power all the way to 8400rpm, tq falls off a little but not enough to really **** and moan about. Obviously the LS and ITR are a bit different but the turbo is great for daily driver for me. Having a turbo this size doesnt really leave a whole lot of room for big power but for my daily driven street car its perfect.

Where did you source a .48 compressor? I've never seen one.
I drive a stripped sub-1800 lbs (driver included) CRX HF. I've downgraded springs twice as I've put the car on the diet as they start getting too stiff for the street. Now you've got a picture of what I'm dealing with... a turbo that spools at 2000-2500 rpms and acts like a lightswitch leaves me with no traction in 1st or 2nd. With a peaky setup that adds the power up top and is a bit slow to spool would allow me to feather the gas more successfully - which I have problems doing in 2nd with my current setup. There is no feathering a lightswitch. :/
I guess my problem is uniquely me. I've accepted long ago I'd live my life as some sort of circus freak.

I've got a small T3 .42/.48 too. Would you guys advise it if I were to switch the compressor side to a .60 ? What kind of power would I expect from a .42/.60 with 9 -10 psi on a mildly built LS? Thanks!!
i have a saab t3 turbo on my car it's .42. .48 a/r and for my jetta with a 2.0l motor it works great for mild boost it's a perfect turbo, i run about 7-9psi on it and it's right in the effeciency range, eventually i wanna get a t3/t4 but for low boost it's a good turbo
What about a turbonetics t3/t4 with a .48 turbine and .60a/r (the wheel is stage 3 or some name like that). It was offered to me for $600.00 shipped and its brand new.
