Default D16Z6 and B18A turbo recommendations

Wonder which turbo from cheapturbo.com to get for these setups:

Both motors have stock internals and plan to run ~9.5 psi with external 35mm Tial wg.

D16Z6 runnin' the AFC Hack
2 1/2" turbo back exhaust and 2 1/2" intercooler piping with front mount
I was thinking the .48 with the .57 trim stage three for this.

B18A runnin' the AFC Hack
2 1/2" downpipe 3" after that and 2 1/2" intercooler piping with front mount
I was thinking the .63 with the .60 trim stage three for this.

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah for the b18b I would go with the t3t40E .57 trim and .48 a/r.
As far as the d16 goes I would recomend a t-3 with .42 trim and .48 a/r...

that small? that's what we have on the car right now.. an old saab t3 with those a/r's.. but we're looking to go to a bigger t3/t4e.. will that be too big for it? The exhaust housing is the same it's just the compressor side that differs.

you are going to get a ton of different answers...but this is what *i* would do.

z6: t3/t4 .48ar 46trim (had this on my sohc and loved it) or a mitsu 16g / Big16g

b18: t3/t4 .48ar 50trim with a 4" inlet. (400whp carable with instaspool)

where could I get the second one listed? Also I was looking to spend around 550 shipped (like from cheapturbo.com).. Will the .57 trim and .60 trim I have listed at the top be too large? Thanks a lot man!

The 50trim flows more then the 57trim, while the 60trim is getting somewhat large. The 50trim is gods gift to garrett turbos!

I know that sounds weird...put look at these compressor maps...

T04E 50trim

T04E 57trim

notice the 50trim flows about 42lb/min at 75% effeincy while the 57 only flows 38lb/min. The 50trim is the better turbo.

Now the 60trim..

Here is the 46trim (baby)

Im sure cheapturbos can get you anything you need...50trim 48ar

Call and ask!

I'm not exactly sure how to read a compressor map, but I see where the 42 and the 37 come from. Looking at that though, it seems as the the 50 trim flows more than the 60 trim. Where does the pressure (Y-axis) come into play? Thanks a lot man..

Nevermind that.. just found a very useful page on how to calculate the line you will be running.. I like your choices a lot.. and it seems from those maps that I can run low (10 psi) boost be in the efficiency range of the 60 trim.. thanks man!

The 60trim and the 50trim are very close...but the 60trim will outflow the 50. Id pick the 50 over the 60 as its going to spool faster but have a similar topend. The 50trim starts to come alive sooner.

Good luck on whatever you get. Its really personally preference. You can find more compressor maps at...

one final question.. from what i've been researching.. 8 psi flows the same amount of air no matter what turbo it is .. it's just how fast the turbo can spool up to that 8 psi and what efficiency range it is in.. the turbo does not flow any more air.. it just flows it at a cooler temperature correct? thanks man
