I need to know is this to big I bought this brand new a couple months back for my gsr but I have since decided not to boost it anymore. Is it entirely too big or what? I appreciate it guys I searched but couldn't find any info on 60-1

i assume the t3 60-1 Cole D is talking about is the big one with the to4s compressor housing....am i right? if so thats definatly not the same turbo, its a t3/t4 hybrid, not straight t3. from what i know i'd say that turbo wouldnt be very streetable on a z6 though.

Thats a pretty big compressor, but since the exhaust is still .48 I don't think spool will be too bad. That turbo will definitely pull once it spools.

yeah thats what i was thinking of, that compressor flows like 780 cfm. it's a t04s housing which is hybird with the .48 t3 turbine. that turbo will make big hp numbers but i dont think you'll spool it up, like i said i dont know how streetable it would be.

I was hoping somebody would be on my side but I don't want to buy another turbo so I think I'm going to use it anyway it can't be that bad I hope not. Plus I'm going to get a greddy 2mm headgasket and run 15lbs daily thanks guys

HA, that's hilarious! There is no way that you want to use that turbo. If you've got a fully built d-series revving out to 9k, that is going to see drag-racing duty only...yeah, MAYBE use that turbo. If this is a street car...you'd be better off punching yourself in the face. Get a t3 or if you've NEED a hybrid turbo, get something a lot smaller.
Also, stock d-series internals + thick head gasket does not a bullet-proof motor make.
edit: btw, the turbo you're talking about is the same one this guy is using...after reading this post...maybe you can answer your own question as to whether or not your applications are comparable.

I see what you mean I don't really want to pay $600 bones for another turbo but if its going to be that bad then I don't have a choice

Re: (Cole D)
man that turbo is huge, i wouldnt even want to try it on a d series. stick with a standard t3/t4 with an e housing if you want something that pulls hard up top but still spools nicely.

Re: (RyanCivic2000)
well just for reference. a customer of mine (00CIVICSITEIN) bought an SC60 with a stage 3 turbine wheel and .48 a/r turbine housing for his built D. it's basically a T3/60-1 Hifi (because of the .60 a/r T04E housing vs the .70 ar T04S). The motor
had bigger valves, port and polish, springs, retainers and a cam. it also had 3 inch dp and an equal length manifold. he said the turbo didn't make full boost (15psi) till somewhere up aruond 5000-5500 if i remember right (can't find the post now). so yes... on a stock D16... it'd be pretty damn laggy
