can i weld pipe to my oil pan?

Default can i weld pipe to my oil pan?

instead of buying a flange,can i just weld a 5/8's piece of pipe to the pan,its a can from a crx,using a cheapo welder with no gas?

technically, yes.. but welding dissimilar metals is hard and you really have to be carefull not to burn through the pan...

if you just have a cheapo welder I would hazard to guess you are more likely to ruin your pan than to be successful...

brazing (witha torch) is the proper way to do this
