Homade WG gaskets....what do ya think??
Well, after blowing out my Tial WG gaskets, I was bored and I decided to try and make my own. I bought a .025" aluminum sheet at Lowes and cut these out with my Dremel. I am wondering if the aluminum will hold up to the heat in the long run and thought I would get your opinions. I may try a steel sheet later if these don't hold up or may just buy some Firering gaskets if all else fails.

Yeah, copper, I forgot about that.....I'll try that next. I have to put these on tonight, so I am not sure if they seal better or not. Before these, I used a thinner aluminum sheet and they sort of bent on me when I used a jigsaw to cut them out, so I don't think they were able to seal well. These are twice as thick and are perfectly flat thanks to the Dremel. I tried no gasket and it leaked a little. Well see. Thanks!!!
i bought some of these..i know its not cheap at 8 bucks each but i havent had any problems with mine.

They fail pretty easily, they look like the above gasket minus the compression ring

Jon those look real nice...i was about to order 3 firering gaskets from RRE but now i might just make my own...awesome
man go spend 7 dollars at lowes and make em.. u can get like 10 for 7 bux... then if u want order some from roadrace.. those are they better kind of gaskets.. TIAL ones that came with my friends kit sucks ***.. way too shitty.
Thanks guys! Yeah, a 6" x 18" of .025" aluminum was under $7 at Lowes. I am sure I could get 10 gaskets out of it. If you look at the gasket at the top of my pic, that is the Tial and the black marks are where it burned through and just left the metal screen part of it......all the graphite stuff is gone.
yea looks just like my friends.. i dont know what they were thinking.. roadraces ones are nice... i have some of those on mine.. but we made tin ones for my friend.. works like a champ
those turbonetics gaskets with the metal ring own all, you shouldnt blow them. So 10 bux and a very good seal and not having to replace it for a LONG time if ever.
