the cable is not broken. (yet) I figure it is probably frozen shut, very possible.

However, I did take my front bumper off since the last time the hood was open, is there any way I could have pinched the cable when i put it back on?

it doesnt seem like the hood latch cable would run past/through/around the bumper beam at all..?

 

Pull on the cable while you have a buddy beat on the front of your hood. If that doesn't work, its time to say hello to Mr. Crowbar

 

the cable should not have been pinched. it should be nicely tucked and hidden. try using a screw driver and pry around to see if anything is stuck or hit it a couple times..

 

Mine is like this.... it doesnt pop when i pull the cable, i have it so i have to pull up on the hood after it is popped... It could be a situation similar to mine, you may have to have somebody pull the latch WHILE you try and pull up on the hood, at the same time..... idk. Try that before u put a crowbar to it. Sometimes the latching mechanism just gets old and doenst open freely. Try getting a hold of it and wiggling it up and down if you can.

 

you can reach through the front of the bumper grill and up to the underside of the hood latch support. feel for a 1/4 ball at the end of the cable, and push it from side to side, this is the same motion as when the cable is pulled from inside the car. try to push down a bit on the hood at the same time, this will take off some of the pressure.

 

open the door...
and try to push down the hood with left hand, and pulling the cable from the inside with right hand
if not then have someone push the hood a lil when u pull the lever
afdter its open, just move the cable a lil back and foward underneith the bumper to make sure has no tention on it

 

thanks for the input guys, it turns out the cable wasnt frozen or pinched. I just pulled the bumper and played with the latch while someone pulled the cable. .. it was just grimy and sticky, so I cleaned it and lubed it up real nice... hope that lasts a while.. this road salt really does a number on our stuff.

 

how do i adjust the cable?

 

my clib that holds the housing down by the lever is broke so i have to hold the housing back then pill the lever to pop it...no1 i know knows how to open the hood. maybe thats a good thing tho
