Good Idea? Octane Related
Ouch! Its only $3.50 per gallon here in IL
To the best of my knowledge running higher octane fuel has basicly the same benefit as retarding your timing to get rid of detonation.
Does anyone have a rule of thumb when it comes to octane and boost. Say 3 octane points higher for each addition PSI or something general like that?

octane is the resitance to detonate.
higher the octane, the more controlled the explosion is; thus, you will be less prone to detonate.
It is a good idea to run high octane gas, but it's not worth 65 bucks to fill your tank.
spend 500 and tuen it properly to pumpgas and you'll be set

What about if you put half 100 and half 91?
You could do a mix of race and pump if you wanted to, but xylene works well, and its 117 octane. Mix that in and shizzam. I'm a fan of alky/water injection systems though. It's roughly the same as running race gas, but it's a helluva lot cheaper and it cools off the boost a lot. My bud runs it in his mustang, he has a non-intercooled vortech YS-trim on an 8.5:1 compression motor, and with the alky and water he runs 20 pounds of boost on 93 octane.

Methanol injection...but it really only a good idea if you have a standalone to tune the fuel tables. It gives you sky high octane when you need it (boosting).

WTF 2.10 today i bought 91Octane for two bucks .....wtf is cali coming too

you guys do know that mostly all gases with over a 105 rating has a high lead content right? I hope so. 100 is fine. You can always use alchy. Cheep but burns fast...
Other info...did you know that the FED. government will cover the costs to switch your car over to alchy? YEP. I'm looking into everything. Different rings, pistons, fuel system, injectors, rail, regulators, and alchy coolant systems.

.Chronic exposure to methanol, either orally or by inhalation, causes
headache, insomnia, gastrointestinal problems, and blindness in
humans and hepatic and brain alterations in animals. EPA has derived
an oral RfD (reference dose) (see end note 3) for methanol of 0.5
mg/kg/day, based on the absence of liver and brain effects in animals
exposed by mouth to 500 mg/kg/day.
1. Humans - "Chronic" exposure to methanol vapors (no time or dose
given) caused conjunctivitis, headache, giddiness, insomnia,
gastric disturbances, and bilateral blindness (ACGIH 1991).
Marked vision loss occurred in one worker exposed to 1200 to
8000 ppm vapor for 4 years (ACGIH 1991).
Nitroedex- I was looking to that as well. Where'd you find out about the government covering it? I need more info on this.

You do know Methanol is toxic right? I'd use ethanol.
