I really need you guys opinion on this. I sent my block out to have it built by a shop I will not say yet. I got it back and check to see if the rods have been balanced. To the best of my knowledge doesnt metal have to be shaved off on the rods for it to be balance. Also I have a question on the block honing, does it look like the block was honed out by manual tool or was it done by a precise machine. Any way I can check this?

They don't necessarily need to remove material from the rod when they balance the rotating assembly. They might have been within reasonable weight difference.
They usually take material off from the rod cap b/c you shouldn't do anything to compromise the beam or the area around the shanks.
The cross-hatching looks good with even spacing of the cross-hatchings. I really haven't seen enough of cylinder bore honing to give you a conclusive answer. I'm sure one of the more experienced builders can clear things up (ie: Steve, earl, or whomever).
