Default Greddy Type S boosted to 30psi???

I was sitting back watching some show on the speed channel. They had a little review of a 9 sec Hot Rod class civic(i forgot who's car it was but it was definitely a 9 sec car) They showed a nice long shot of the engine bay. They said it was boosting close to 30psi and what shocked me was it had a Greddy Type S blow off valve. How's this possible,I was thought the Greddy was a low boost street valve with a max around 15-18psi.I figured if the Type S was pushed higher than that it would start leaking and lose boost,I guess not......anyone have a diff opinion on this valve,do you think its ok to use it under such hi boost?

when I had a type S it would open up after 15 psi or so...

I have heard if you use multiple bovs it would hold better, but I dont know why.. in mine the spring was just being pushed open from the inside...

You can get a stiffer spring for the Type S.

And multiple BOV's are used in extremely high boost pressure applications where they need to release more than what ONE BOV can flow. But for most, one BOV is plenty.

If it's this red hatch with Pacific Performance stickers, it is Steven Thompsons car. He runs 30+ psi with i think a t66 but i know for a fact he runs the Type S bov. It seems to hold the pressure and not leak. Check out PacificPerformance.com for more info.

Yeah that looks like the car and set-up i saw...

You can get a stiffer spring for the Type S.
I dont think they have a stiffer spring avail for the Type S or did at one time and dont anymore cause i dont see it on the Greddy site..only for the Type R blow-off valve.

even if it is possible to hold 30 psi on a type s, why not just get a bov made for that much boost?

I would think they could use the Greddy Type R BOV ... But if it aint broke, don't fix it.

Not everything used on a RACE car is bought through a catalog.
