Default d15b2 vs d16a6 block.

now to my knowledge the only differance betweeen d15b2 and d16a6 is the DPFI vs MPFI.

now are the block identical and if they are why did honda stamp them with differant codes. if i was just using HEAD down would it produce the same power as the d16a6?

I'll add that I ran a D16A6 block with a DX head and cam on my MPFI. I was using a homemade turbo kit pushing 5psi. I drove the **** out of it for 3 months. burn't 2 cluthes and then spun 3 bearings. That motor had new rings but 185k miles on the bearings. I'm now running the D15B2 with new rings and rod bearings and it sees many trips in the red. It runs strong. I aslo picked up 3 more D15's for about 200 and all have good cranks and blocks.

shiet my swapped out d16a6 crx motor was sitting in my backyard for weeks. so we took off the tranny and intake manifold, loaded it on the truck and grabbed my friends d15 from his DX and tossed them at the local pick and pull. i tried to sell it but bunch of flakes and even had an offer for $60 for BOTH motors! now they're gone... too bad i didn't see this thread earlier. with all the d series getting swapped out, i wouldnt' mind doing a d series project.

Bisi's car was bored and sleeved nothing else. Actually displacement was like 1535 (I believe) Mista Bone would know more about it. Bisi is a member here now too.

the d16a uses a diff crankshaft and rods the bore and stroke on d16a6 is 2.95x3.54 and the compression on a6 is 9.1 and d15b1&2 are 2.95x3.33 compression is 9.2 except 88b1 has 9.6cr..so i guess a a6 is like a stroked b15
I thought that the b1 had less hp than the b2, so then it would be the one to have a smaller CR. Not trying to call you out...just confused

The rods and pistons in the D16 and the D15b2 are proportionally the same size

that must be one mean head hes got on that motor if the bottom isn't too modded out. Im sure hes got a crazy compression ratio. though i don't know. He probaby went for that 1.75 ratio of horizontal to vertical distance which is said to be the best to produce the least amount of stress that's put on the rods with any given setup...thouogh i could be wrong because i don't know how you go about setting up the whole thing
