i got a greddy gsr kit and a beautiful 2.5" custom downpipe (writeup and pics coming soon)

i DISCONNECTED the actuator arm on my internal wastegate so the WG port is WIDE OPEN and i still hit 8psi and climbing FAST...probly hit 1bar no problem

exhaust is TOO free flowing.

so i can

1) add exhaust restriction (but it would be quieter)

2) make the wastegate port larger (its a mitsu turbo and they do this for the DSM guys)

3) ? any other ideas?

 

my friend that owns a GSX had the same problem about boost creep. He ported the wastegate port and solved his problem. Hope this helps

 

Weld the WG shut and then put a flang on your manifold for an external gate. Problem solved. Internal gates are evil. I had to do this to a 95 awd tsi I had for a while.

kidding. i am going to explore the ported wastegate setup.

There used to be this place called Team Rip Engineering TRE that ported the wastegate hole and replaced the flapper with a larger one. Try searching for them on the net. They also did some crazy turbo porting.

 

Why would you disconnect the actuator arm?

 

You should check out forced performance. They do really good work with internally gated turbos (since they specialize in DSM mods) and could do a sick port on it as well. The owner, Robert, is a cool guy, too.
