Default ported greddy internal wastegate

i was wondering if anyone ported out their internal wastegate in their greddy 18G and how much boost they were able to hold steadily?

no, i just change the wastegate actuator....put a 18psi one on, got it from atp turbo..homemade me a bracket to hold it....pretty steady with that wastegate actuator on...only way you cant make that turbo hold boost is by changing the actuator...

Just go external. I'm using the stock wastegate setup, but with a 2.5 inch downpipe and exhaust. I don't think the wastegate should have to changed, unless you're planning on pushing the turbo to it's limits. I'm shooting for 315 WHP right now, and I should be okay, but only cause I got rid of the horrible Greddy downpipe.

going external is not a option for me...cost to much...ill just get my self a new kit while iam at it. 18psi wastagate is only 50bucks...and iam working on the horrible greddy downpipe....if you have a spear one laying around do offer to me, i needed one realy bad....with it i might hit that 350mark....at 18psi.....

I don't have a spare, I custom made mine. I will be hitting dyno hopefully in next couple days, so I will let you know how it goes. I'm hoping with the better downpipe, I won't need to do anything with the wastegate. I have my fingers crossed it will hold boost and get me enough power.

Negative, I'm running the stock internal wastegate, just made a custom 2.5 inch downpipe. I just used a 1/4 inch piece of flat plate steel, tranced it to fit the turbo, drilled the holes in right places, welded on a 90 degree 2.5 inch elbow, then the exhaust shop tied it into my exhaust. Only problem is I should of got the plate of steel machined after I welded itm cause it's not perfectly flat and it leaks a bit, even with the gasket on.

It's not the greatest, but it works. Had a couple small pinhole leaks after I got it on, so i just quickly threw a weld over it. Hard to get a grinder in there, so I just left it. Instead of machining the flat plate of steel, I think I'm just gonna try and use high temp silicon first.

Might have to take your AC out to get the downpipe in, but once it's on, you should be able to drop your fan and condenser back in. Well worth it though. The greddy downpipe is like 2 inch and it's horrible. I've heard of guys gaining 25 WHP from changing the downpipe.

Thanks tips, but if you actually looked at the pictures, you would notice that the 2.5inch barely fit past the IC piping. 2.5 inch also barely just clears at the back of the car to.

As soon as i get time, hopefully within a couple weeks, I'll be making a downpipe that clears the a/c. It'll be a dual outlet design (one 2.5" dp and a seperate 2" dump tube for the internal wastegate). I'll send you some pics when its completed and see if its something you'd be interested in. I'll also be tuning asap after the dp is installed. As for pricing... I'll have a better picture after its completed to see what materials/labor is. I'm willing to bet it'll be worth the price charged though.

as long as its not 300 bucks thats kiling....but yah...make sure it clear the ac....and 2.5 is good enough....can you make it all the way to the catback, kinda like a whole dp with elbow....you know what i mean....

Why would you run another dump for the INTERNAL wastegate? I really don't think that's needed. I will find out on Saturday when I hit the dyno if you really need to dump the wastegate seperate or not.

Besides the "theoretical" advantages of a dual oulet design (less exhaust turbulence when the gate opens blah blah blah), clearence is the main reason for using dual pipes. It looks to be almost impossible to fab a single oval (t28 flange) 3" pipe that would shoot down at a 90 degree fast enough to clear the a/c. Much easier to work with smaller, round pipes.

Well I'm using 2.5inch from the turbo, all the way back. Hitting the dyno tommorow, and I'm shooting for 315-325WHP, but if I can get 325 out of it, with using a manual boost controller and the stock internal wastegate, I'm pretty sure the extra dump for the wastegate isn't useful. It might help a little bit, but in my mind, not worth the extra work.
