Mitsubishi Wastegate Problem
So I take the car in to check why its not regulation boost and just sailing past the stock psi. It is the Wastegate that is not regulating, so I have got a stock Eclipse Wastegate and the sucker doesnt fit or even come close to being like the greddy. I give greddy a call and they tell me that is 150 to order one from Japan but the bad new is that it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get here. I cant be without a car for that long. Has anyone else had a problem with the wastegate and did a solution that didnt have 1 month downtime. how hard to convert to External wastegate.

Re: Mitsubishi Wastegate Problem (VTC_CiViC)
do a custom job of soldering the hole of the internal wastegage on the turbo exhaust housing and puting an external wastegage on the manifold, this will eliminate the boost creep that most greddy kits have after 12 psi and with a 35mm wastegage you will be able to boost more the usual

just disconnect the charge lines and rising rate if you have that and just run NA until you get the wastegate. No down time, slower, but no down time.

Re: Mitsubishi Wastegate Problem (c_penson)
whoa, u'd need some super HIGH temp solder to pull that off. and a mega-mondo soldering iron too. I know u meant weld.
Because of that internal wg snafu I had, I just disconnected the wg line to keep it closed and had a external wg flange added to my custom manifold.

Mine is currently doing the same problem.
It has been working fine for the past 4 months, and now just seems to not open.
I havn't had time yet, but I will check for a leak in the wastegate line first, and then procede onto testing the wastegate it self.
If I can't get it to work I will just buy one from a junk yard and call it a day.
Just don't drive WOT (it's harder then I make it sound) and watch your boost gauge. You should have plenty of time to work things out and find what's wrong, if your paitent.

Re: Mitsubishi Wastegate Problem (Bryson)
Has anyone done this to a greddy manifold, Help me out here please. I want to add a external cause I called greddy and a internal wastegate is $150 and 4 to 6 weeks to get from japan. I am thinking of getting a tial wastegate.

Well, I would consider the same thing...
But I can't find a good place to put it on the SOHC manifold because of the way the ports go up and over the other 2.
Has anyone successfully modified either Greddy manifold to work with ext wg? And I don't mean using the bleed hole...
