iat grommet
my iat has been dangling for a while now and i want to drill a hole in the charge pipe and put it there, but from what i have read i will need a rubber grommet to insure no leaks and to keep it from blowing out under boost. so does anyone know where i could get a grommet that would be sufficient? online if possible.

You're better off putting the IAT sensor in the intake piping going to the turbo. it's meant to read ambient or near-ambient air temp., not compressed hot air. I cut a slit in the rubber connector that attaches the filter to the intake piping. The rubber kind of acts like a grommet except that it also keeps the filter from falling off.

Actually, it's meant to read the temp of the air going into the motor. Whether it's hot or cold isn't relevant to where it should be placed as it is used to determine how much fuel enrichment you need. It will work better on the charge pipe.
It depends how effecient your ic is. If the air temp going into the motor is about the same as the underhood temp. then it won't matter. If you don't have an ic then it will matter. Maybe not a night and day difference, but if you're gonna do it you might as well do it the right way.

No it won't hold. What I was thinking of doing was weldind like a 1" long tube the same diameter as the IAT sensor on the charge pipe near the TB, then attaching the IAT to the tube using rubber or silicone hose and a couple of hose clamps.

But from all the D-series turbo owners i've talked to, they told me it'd be better to relocate the IAT sensor from the charge piping to the turbo intake, which I did. When it was in my charge piping, i'd get a CEL 03 everytime i hit VTEC while under full boost. now that I've moved it to the rubber connector, car runs better and no more CEL 03. so i don't know what happened there.
