Disappointed with Zex, should have gotten NX
I Recently installed a Zex kit on my 5th gen accord auto. I also have I/H/E and suspension mods. I'm running a 55 shot. I raced a all stock IS300 auto. He torqued braked and got me from the launch. When i turned on my nitrous i stayed at his rear passenger door. Well, i just wanted to share that with you guys.
Also, my car is running a little bit lean (my plugs are gray, not entirely white). I was thinking about getting a fuel pressure regulator and raise my fuel pressure so it would prevent me from running lean. Will this work?

Get some colder plugs, that should have been the first thing you did after installing the Zex.
Considering that it was a 55 shot and you hung w/ an IS300, that's a lot better than what you had before. (not saying the IS300's are the fastest things out there, but definitely quicker than an Accord)

When your zex is activated. It automatically raises your fuel pressure to add more fuel. A FPR may make you run too rich and you will actuall ylose power. So when you are spraying you are not running lean. Go up to a 75 shot if you want more power. The kit does exactly what it says it does-gives you an extra 55hp.
yeah but zex is only rated to the flywheel. Also if i raise to a 75 shot how can i retard my timing? I've already tried with the stock distributor can it didn't retard by much. Should i spend the money and just get a adjustable cam gear?
An adjustable cam gear will only adjust your cam timing, not your ignition timing. I have run a 75 shot and others have run higher. You only have to retard 4 degrees for a 75 shot. You should be able to easily adjust your distributor for that amount

youll get there
Did you have a bottle warmer? 55 shot knocked off 1.3 seconds off my 1/4 mile times. Without the bottle warmer, its not the real shot.
No i didn't have a bottle warmer, that's probably another reason why i lost, i live in dallas and it's starting to get cold here at nights.
How are you able to retard you ignition timing by 4 degrees with the stock distributor? I tried that on my accord. The distributor on the accord is not like a civic, it doesn't allow much adjustment.

A bottle warmer works wonders. I would reccomend getting a pressure gauge for the bottle also just to see what P.S.I. you are at. More pressure=More speed!
Zex's 55hp increase is NOT to the flywheel. I have living proof.
I had ZEX on my '00 Accord...before zex, my car had 135hp to the wheels (5spd), and the dyno run with zex 55shot, i had 185hp to thw wheels...I loved the 55shot and it was enough to keep me happy for $450.
Note I DID have a bottle warmer though and usually kept the pressure at around 1000lbs if I was going to use it. On some hot summer days, the pressure got up to 1200lbs...that scared me. I don't know how much pressure those bottles can hold but...

my needle has been pegged @ 1500psi on really hot days. the bottle can hold 3000psi before the safety cap blows.
ngkr 7's?? 7 is stock. you have to get colder plugs. i went down to ngkr 6's, and my zex kit was great. i couldnt get any traction until 4th gear.
I'm seeing alot of replys that my plugs aren't good enough. Alot of ppl recommened thed the NGK BRK7E's. What would u guys recommened?

no, stock heat range is 5. the bkr7e's are 2 steps colder. also you should have them gapped at around .035 not the stock .044, with nitrous you want a smaller gap. Nitrous is harder to ignite then NA, and the smaller gap is easier for voltage to jump across. The only time you want to run a gap as big as .044 with nitrous, is if you have an aftermarket ignition system.
btw i love my NX kit, and also a bottle warmer is almost as essential as the n2o in the bottle.

you also have to remember though that a dry shot is nowhere near as effective as a wet shot.
