Default D16y8 p28 swap, need help

Hello, so I’m doing a swap on my 96 civic hatch, and I’m having a crank but no start situation. I changed almost everything on the new motor, clutch, injectors, plugs, wires, dizzy, and a skunk2 intake with throttle body. She’s looking nice, but it’s not catching. I was told by my friends dad that I need to plug the crank sensor in, but I heard the p28 doesn’t need one. Any suggestions or tips. Will answer questions.

The OBD-1 ECU does need a CKP (crank position sensor), but it isn't where you think: It is in the distributor... what you think is the crank position sensor down near the oil pump and crank pulley is actually the CKF (crankshaft fluctuation sensor) and is not needed for an OBD-1 ECU. You can plug it in... but it changes nothing. What size fuel injectors are you using ?

using stock injectors for a 99 civic ex. I got a distributor for a 99 civic hx, since it’s the only vtec engine with the same obd2 connector for that motor. Any recommendations on which one I should get?

Maybe 'advanced level' but all the distributor pinouts are compatible between obd1, 2a and 2b. You can use a pick to remove pins from one plastic connector and then simply install into other style plastic connector. The only wire that's a little different is the ignition power wire.

They also sell premade adapter harnesses on amazon/ebay
Amazon Amazon
just search around for the right adapter for your situation.

alrighty, so I just placed the order for a d15b7 distributor, which comes with that sensor bro was mentioning, and I bought a obd2 big plug to obd1 two way connector, you think that’s the right play, I seen that’s what people do, also will I have to repin anything on the Ecm, or should it work fine like that?
