Default Tuning a 2000 GSR

I installed my s300 and put a base map on. (I’m going to take it to a shop to get a better tune) I’m looking for tips and things I should know. I know some of the basics but I want to learn how everything works so in the future I can do things my self. If u have any suggestions for things I should change in the map based on some of the mods I have on the car that’s really what I’m looking for. I only made a few changes on the map myself like increasing the fuel by 10%. I lowered the idle from 800 to 700 and it made it idle smoother but I was wondering if that was dumb like am I starving the engine or anything should I actually increase it?

Parts: Stage 1 cams, Skunk 2 intake, 70mm Throttle body

Do you have a wideband installed in the exhaust as well as wired into the ECU?

Get a wideband.

Also I'd highly recommend investing in something like this if you're serious about becoming proficient in tuning:

Awesome man, sounds like you're going about this in the right way.

Good luck! I hope you have fun and learn a lot.

thanks I appreciate it. Maybe you have an idea about a TPS problem I’m having it works and the ecu is reading the TPS while the car is on but when I start the engine the TPS stops working and the ecu is reading 0%

I'm not even a novice level tuner - First thing I'd check in your situation though would be the ground for the TPS, the fact that it reads OK until you start the engine makes me think you're getting interference somewhere. Make sure the TPS has a good solid grounding point.

Also, check the voltage that the TPS is pulling while the engine is running if possible.
