Trouble with rims….help
I bought a set of rims for my 2008 Honda Civic. I was installing them today the first 3 went on with no problems. The last one which was drivers front went on the studs no problem but when I try to put the lug nuts on I can only get 2 of 5 to thread cause they aren’t in the centre of the holes I noticed the studs were a little bent so I replaced all those and I double checked hub clearances. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? I’m at a loss
I’ll post a pic later on I put the factory rims back on for the time being. Yes they are after market. They are 17x8 core racing. That one rim giving me the issue fits on all corners of the car. Just can’t get more than 2 lugs threaded no matter what. Oddly enough when the rim is off my lugs will drop down into the holes. I’m really starting to think the bore holes weren’t drilled perfectly.
Good chance those wheels require narrow "tuner" lug nuts with a 60 degree seat. Not many aftermarket wheels are compatible with the Honda acorn seat lug nuts. The nut needs to match the seat of the wheel.
I have aftermarket lugs. It’s like the tunnels going down to where the lugs seat were drilled a tiny bit off on that rim. They just can’t get the right angle when on the car. Sorry I haven’t had a chance to put the other rim back on to take a pic yet. I’ll be doing that tomorrow morning.
