Re: lock nuts studs? (xbird)
that *thing* you refer to is known as a stud, so you had it right.
if mine bent, i'd replace them ASAP. i can imagine it might affect the nut's ability to hold thread and possibly strip when turning over the uneven spots, therefore compramising the nuts ability to hold tight over milage.
so to answer your Q, replace them. i would.

*Front*
pull the spindle off and take it to like pep boys or some place with a press.
They will press out the hub and the bad studs and put new ones in.
I have done the front but never the backs. Thay cant be to tough. The fronts suck!

Re: lock nuts studs? (rolow)
there's a spot on the hub, at about the 6:00 o'clock position, that's recessed enough to get the studs in and out. It's not easy or fun, but it'll save you a bunch of money to do it yourself.
The main question is, why are they bent? Are you running hubcentric wheels? Do you have the centering rings in?

Re: lock nuts studs? (94CivicSi)
it's too hard for me to explain
but it's THAT much bent
but when i put the lock nuts in, the nuts are not STRAIGHT in, it kind of twist around and scratches my rims
