Default Root cause of ISB failure

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has experimented or thinks they know why the ISB on the manual transmission is so prone to failure. I know mine is starting to go and would really like to be able to repair it so that it does not fail again in 100-200k miles.

Some of my thoughts: design of transmission, bearing located too high in transmission case? Would slightly overfilling help this? Design of bearing itself? I know people have searched, has anyone found a better bearing available? Honda MTF too thin, inadequate lubrication? Has anyone using GM synchromesh or similar after a repair had another failure?

Just curious about everyone's thoughts.
