Default Bearing Shells

When rebuilding an engine,i ask you specialists.....is it ok to touch the Bearing shells? This guy did it and as he was doing it,i was like wtf?I never touched an engine b4 however all i do in my free time is stay here on HT,learning a lot a bout engines but from my common sense, it would be bad to do that.I know a lot about engines and such but just not minor building techniques, know what i mean? Here the guy im talking about,im sure you guys have seen this b4.

bearing shells as in bearings itself? it's completely safe to touch them. Some people recommend using latex gloves but I've touched the bearing shells and applied assembly lube with them and my motors have worked fine

Its just an extra step for some people will do and some don't

that, some people say taking shortcuts is what kills engines(see:crankwalk,LS-VTEC B20/B18B/B18A

yea, bearings itself.
well if I really believed that using my fingers to apply engine lube on bearing shells would kill my motor then I personally wouldn't do it

There's a difference between half assing oil lines on an engine for a ls/vtec and applying assembly lube with your bare fingers...

edit: like I said, some people rather take the extra step to feel completely safe that nothing will contaimnate the lube or have dirt from the fingers onto the bearings, while others can do it safely and not 'kill the engine'
