I've got an em1 with a b20vtec. It's been a fun car, but the body is damaged and it's not worth it to me to fix at this time.
I decided to try to find something with a decent body that was stock that I could swap my drivetrain into. I found a 98 hx that was stock except for a short ram intake.
I've bought a bunch of parts, but as far as working on the car I haven't made much progress. I've got the battery and radiator out and I removed the front knuckles and coilovers.
I got some progress cs2 coilovers and swaybar for the car. I'm also going to swap the em1 brakes onto the hx. I am going to relocate the battery to the trunk. I've got some other things I'm going to do while I swap the em1 stuff over that I've wanted to do. I do this stuff outside in the yard, so weather slows me down, but hopefully this thread will help motivate me a little.
So I'm having trouble with the pictures. I tried imgur and they didn't show up, so I'm using my phone. Hopefully I'll get them sorted out better next post.

I was able to spend some time on the car this evening. I removed the shift linkage from the transmission and unbolted the exhaust from the manifold. I took the power steering pump off and removed the a/c compressor from the block and hung it by a bungee cord. Took both torque mounts off. Removed the fuel line from the engine and took out the line to the clutch slave cylinder.
I've got to take the heater hoses off and get the wiring harness out of the interior and the engine will be ready to come out. Hopefully that will happen this week and I can get some pictures.
It's been a minute since I've touched my cars. The weather slowed me down, then I had to start remodeling on our house and in the middle of that I had shoulder surgery. I'm back at it now.
I finally got the engine out. I did some cleaning on the engine bay but I need to scrub it some more. I started moving the battery to the rear. I'll try to finish that next weekend and get pics.
My son is getting interested in cars so he's helping me.
It's been past time that I give a few updates.
First, the battery is in the trunk. or at least the cable is. I need a new trunk board so when I get one I'll actually mount the battery box and the battery. I have a resettable circuit breaker with mechanical lugs that I will be using instead of a fuse.
The big holdup right now it a wire tuck. I decided I wanted to tuck the headlight harnesses. I had them depinned and ran outside of the engine bay through grommets located near the fuse box and the clutch slave cylinder. I decided I didn't like that so I'm trying a different route. I'm going to run the harnesses from the interior out the door jams. This is proving to be more work than I anticipated. I've strongly considered going back to the stock location but I'm going to stick to my plan.
I have a tucked clutch line I will be installing once the wire tuck is complete so I can get the fenders back on. I have a devsport tucked fuel line I'm going to install as well. I want to do a brake tuck but that is going to have to wait.
I've been trying to show my work on youtube but I'm not the best at recording or taking pictures, but here are a few I have.
I'm using this bus bar to run all of my power from. I got my em1 wheels powder coated. This is how I had both sides ran. This is how I'm running the passenger side. When It's complete I'll do the driver side the same way.
Pulling the headlight harnesses into the interior and running them out the door jambs is tougher than I expected. I've started pulling the dash to make it easier. I'm going to try to get the dash out tomorrow and I'll try to get some pictures. So far it hasn't been that difficult, hopefully the rest isn't too bad.
I got my dash out today. It wasn't super easy but it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I took my time and took pictures and recorded as much as I could. I'm going to put the videos I recorded together and upload it to YouTube.
Now I can focus on getting my headlight harnesses ran like I want and hopefully put the dash back in pretty soon.
